Dr. Mark Coons is a board-certified pediatric dentist who has spent his career helping kids feel comfortable, confident, and successful at the dentist. He especially enjoys caring for children who are anxious about dental treatment, as well as patients with special healthcare needs. With extensive experience in behavior guidance, conscious sedation, and office-based general anesthesia, Dr. Coons is able to tailor treatment to each child’s individual needs and help families find an approach that makes dental care as safe, comfortable, and positive as possible.
Dr. Coons earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University before attending the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, where he graduated at the top of his class. He then traded Southern California for sunny Florida to complete his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Florida. He has also participated in multiple international dental mission trips to Central America and is fluent in Spanish.
After more than 20 years in dentistry, Dr. Coons still believes one of the best parts of his job is getting to know his patients and their families, and watching nervous little patients grow into confident dental pros. His goal is simple: provide excellent dental care while making a trip to the dentist as positive, comfortable, and fun as possible.
Outside the office, Dr. Coons and his wife are busy raising four kids and enjoying everything Arizona has to offer. Over the years, he has volunteered as a coach for his kids’ baseball, basketball, volleyball, and football teams. When he isn’t at the dental office or cheering from the sidelines, you might find him singing, playing guitar, following college football, or spending time with his family.
For Dr. Coons, pediatric dentistry is about more than healthy teeth, it’s about building trust, creating positive experiences, and helping kids have plenty of reasons to smile.
